Microblading- My Second Time around with @arched.by.ali

    February 27, 2019

GIRLS. I’m sure by now you’ve seen the term “microblading” all over the interwebs and social media. I am here to tell you the TROOF about microblading. I know I did a post on this a couple years ago, but I have quite a few new followers here, so I’m sharing my experience with Ali, at IndyMicroBlading and doing a little comparison to my previous experience.

Freshly microbladed brows by Ali Erdel, Indianapolis.

Full disclosure, Ali and I worked together on the basis of trade for this collaboration- and it’s been months since I had my second pass/round with her. I wanted to give my brows adequate time to heal, to show you gals what your brows may look like months “post-op” if you will.

*Side note- I fully want you to know that if I agree to collab with a brand and I have a bad experience, I either let you all know about it, or I don’t post it. But here i am, because Ali is THE SHIT and the REAL DEAL.

SO funny story- I know both of Ali’s younger sisters from my college years, we gals ran in the same circle so I was familiar with her, via her super sweet sisters, as the “cool older sister”.

Moving on to the topic of eyebrows- I had my eyebrows microbladed almost three years ago, by one of the first people in the city to offer the service. At this point in time, microblading was a BRAND NEW service in Indianapolis. No one I knew had had the service performed BUT I HAD TO HAVE IT. Don’t get me wrong- with anything brand new, there are fewer “artists” to choose from, everyone has less experience and the process is a novelty. I’m not bad mouthing the person I saw the first time I had this done, but I am saying that maybe I was one of her initial clients, and the artistic element wasn’t quite . . .perfection? (If you have questions regarding this, please feel free to contact me privately, but at this point in time I am not trying to “put her on blast.”)

I actually started following Ali a few weeks before she reached out to me. “HOLY SHIT!” I thought- my brows have been microbladed and they don’t look like this? I continuted to follow Ali and look at her work- but if I’m being honest, it’s more like artwork. This is what I say about the brows she does, ” If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t know!” They look so natural, perfect and FANTASTIC.

When I visited Ali at Indy Microblading for my first session, Ali let me know that I possibly had some scarring from my previous microblading sessions. My color had bled, was the wrong “tone” and they weren’t quite as fluffy as I would have liked. See my before picture (on top) below. Below that photo, is immediately after my first session with Ali. (Amazing, right?)

Can I tell you guys- Ali was so professional, she spent FOREVER going through my color options with me and was extremely meticulous about drawing my outline on (this is called “brow mapping”), and changed it for me according to my personal preference. (Side note- your outline will always look a million times bolder than your finished product)!

This is what is called “brow mapping” Ali uses the angles and aesthetics of each individual clients face to map out the perfect brow!

After you have your first session, Ali will give you DETAILED instructions regarding your post care- no sun, no TOUCHING, NO PICKING, no moisture etc. She will give you a detailed list of do’s and do-nots! FOLLOW THESE instructions to a T! And just a forewarning, there may be a 3-4 day period where your brows scab, flake and begin to look like you have mange. REMAIN CALM, LOL! This is normal and they will lighten up a tinge after flaking is complete, and you’ll look like J. Lo. or some fabulous celebrity anyway. . . (See pick of my flaking period below where I would obsessively text Ali telling her I had a skin disease, and she reassured me that this was completely normal!) HAHAHAHAHA!

Really, such a flattering photo, I am oh, so GLAD i’m sharing this on the interwebs. . . sighs as I grab my wine glass**

I am so excited to announce she Ali just started out on her own venture “Arched by Ali” (Same as her instagram name but now she is the sole proprietor”) AND, as a result, her prices have lowered!

You can contact her using the following info:

    • On google and Yelp as : “Arched by Ali Microblading”
    • (317)451-6631
    • Arched.by.ali@gmail.com
    • Like her on Facebook, here.

Can I tell you guys my favorite thing about having my brows microbladed? I actually only do my makeup probably 3 times a week, and when I DON’T do my makeup, my brows look bold and fab- no makeup needed! So, for an every day, natural look, these are ROCKING MY WORLD!

Ladies, I’ll leave you with a few last suggestions:

    1. DO YOUR RESEARCH.
    2. Make sure you choose a PROFESSIONAL, with experience. If someone is asking to “practice” on you, (to me,) that’s a red flag!
    3. FOLLOW your post “op” instructions carefully!

If you’re wondering whether you should go for it, or are hesitant at all, and your’re in the Indianapolis area, I honestly, and HIGHLY recommend you reaching out to Ali for a consult. She can answer any questions you may have and will totally ease your mind! (See pic of me below on the marina today, no brow makeup . . with a cocktail. . feeling fab and confident b/c my brows are ON POINT!)
