What to wear to Rev Indy

April 11, 2019

Hey Indianapolis friends! I’ve had a ton of you reaching out on IG asking me: Where do I shop for this event and what should I wear? So I decided to write up a quick blog on my suggestions for y’all, including some retailers where I looked personally, as well as a few tips for the day of.

If you have any questions about the event specifically, you can check out my friend Kate’s post : Everything you need to know about Rev Indy.

I ran into Sierra of Eclectic Kurves when we first walked in the gates, and of course we had to snap a photo with these 500 babes! Doesn’t she look fab in this off the shoulder red number?

  1. Shoes- they make or break an outfit, ami right? If you’re going to wear heels, make sure they are a comfortable pair or that you have a bag large enough to carry some flip flops or ballet flats in. This is an event you’ll be standing at, almost the whole evening. If you’re a pro in high heels- by all means go for it. I personally like to think I’m a decent high-heel walker, but ya pigs get tired after so long, and if you chose a pair that is on the stiff, or higher side, you’ll be glad that you brought something to change into. Here I want to note the parking situation: this event is inside the Indy Motor Speedway, and parking is inside the track itself too- but you may be parked in a gravel lot where it’s quite a haul to the main entrance. (Ify ou’re lucky there will be some track employees coming around on golf carts that can shuttle you to the entrance, but I wouldn’t count on it!)

2. Handbag- this is something you might not think about, but since you’ll be standing most of the event, as well as drinking and eating, you’ll need both hands. I HIGHLY recommend a bag that has a strap on it, so you can go hands-free.

3. Now let’s get to the nitty gritty. Attire– While the website doesn’t say “black-tie” it’s definitely more formal attire- I would call it “semi-formal” or . For men a nice suit (I would probably stick with dark colors since this is semi-formal, and for women a nice cocktail dress. Some gals even wear floor length gowns, although I personally felt that was a teensy bit over the top for this particular event. Black, white and red are the colors of the event, so naturally most guests go with that color theme, but there is no “rule” on colors. Some men wear bow ties, and tuxes, other just wear a nice suit. This is what Aaron and I wore last year:

My white cape dress was from PrettyLittleThing, which is one of the retailer’s I suggest below, and my shoes were Enzo Anziglioni, which were, as far as heels go- insanely comfortable- the leather was soft and the thick strap gave nice support, I would definitely recommend these!

*** Remember- It’s the first week in May in Indiana so the weather could be a total crap shoot. Dress appropriately. Last year it was 74 and beautiful. The year before it was so chilly and windy, no one wanted to be outside- so pay attention to the weather as you may want to bring a coat or shawl!

*Be sure to get your orders in quick and allow for shipping time and possible alterations- Rev is May 4th!

All the dresses I’m going share with you are under $150 and either white, red or black. I’m a bargain shopper personally so I wanted to share some budget friendly picks with you all, too! (By all means- if you want to wear a color or pattern GO FOR IT!) I saw lots of people with checker themed get-ups and some colorful things too, last year!
