Good morning and happy Sunday, my foodie friends. The sun is shining, and I’m slightly hungover so honestly, all I keep thinking about this morning is BRUNCH. Do ya feel me? So this morning, I am sharing the brunch we got to enjoy last week at The Capitol Grille, Indianapolis. I also feel this post is timely, because they are doing a mother’s day brunch, and y’all should take your beautiful mamas out to a spesh lil’ treat to celebrate. Ready? Lesssgooo!
First, let’s talk about this beautiful table setting, shall we? The MOST gorgeous flower arrangements, you guys. Perfect for spring and they included my fave- peonies! You can see more of the decor in my “stories” video that I’ve included in this post, too!
We started off with some small bites from their regular brunch menu (not the Mother’s Day menu). This was a steak hash with bell peppers and taters. (I personally don’t care for cooked bell peppers, weird I know) but I thought they looked pretty in the photo!
Also, these smokes salmon canapés were the perfect little bite to pair with the mimosa bar! (Don’t you just love saying “canapé”?) I do. It makes me feel all French n stuff.
While I’m a HUGE fan of a mimosa bar, I’m the gal that just keeps “forgetting” to add the juice to my champagne. I think I actually ended up having 8. . .but what’s the use of having a “bottomless” mimosa bar if you don’t take advantage, amiright or amiright?
we all also got to sample the blueberry pancakes, which were KILLER. Made with lemon zest and ricotta I believe? Served with whipped butter and Vermont maple syrup.
We got to choose an entree from the Mother’s day brunch menu, which I’ve included for y’all here.
Of course I ordered the lobster frittata. Truffle Hollandaise and crispy hash browns? You had me at “lobster”. Aaron chose the steak and eggs.
Everything was great, but these shrimp and grits were phenomenal! The tangy sauce from shrimp had just enough acidity to pair wonderfully with the creaminess of the grits. (I’m making myself drool over here, still haven’t eaten this am!)
I will actually be traveling to Bloomington to spend time with my grandmothers as well as my mom for Mother’s day, so we won’t be eating out but I hope to be back at Capital Grille soon.
If you guys are local to Indy and go out for “Devour Downtown” ( basically restaurant week where you can get a three course meal on a set menu for a discounted rate) The Capital Grille has my favorite menu for this. Usually, restaurants dumb down their regular menu and choose which dishes on the menu are the least time consuming and the most cost effective for the restaurant’s bottom line. Portions are usually smaller and you might be able to get a say, a 9 oz. ribeye versus a 12 oz. ribeye on the regular menu. Capital Grille doesn’t do that with their Devour menu and you get THE BEST bang for your buck. You’ll have to try it when it comes back up: August 20-Sept 2nd this year.
LOVE that you pointed out that capital grille isn’t skimping out on the portions. I loved the lobster fritatta. I will definitely be back for devour!
Looks amazing! Can’t wait to try it.
