Diner En Blanc: Indianapolis- Food meets fashion

October 17, 2018

*This post is in collaboration and sponsored by Macy’s. All opinions are my own.

A few weeks ago, Indianapolis had the pleasure of hosting it’s first Diner en Blanc. If you’re a foodie of any type (or a fashion lover), you may have heard of this exclusive party before. Other cities host these invite-only parties where guests dress in their finest ALL WHITE cocktail attire, pack a picnic basket with a gourmet meal, and hop on a bus to a destination unknown. None of the guests know where they are going- the location is secret!

Indiana’s first Diner en Blanc was of course hosted at Indy’s most iconic and well known site in town- the Indianapolis Motor Speedway!

The history of Diner en Blanc:

Diner en Blanc, as you may have guessed, has Parisian roots. 30 years ago in Paris, a gent named François Pasquier got some of his besties together and decided to throw a fancy schmancy  all-white picnic in a secret, but well noted location, and the event was so wildly popular, they decided to have one every year after that! For example this dinner has been held at the Eiffel Tour, Place de la Concord,  Versailles and Esplande de Notre Dame just to name a few. In 2013, a record 15,000 people attended the Diner en Blanc en Paris!

As you may have guessed by now- part of the allure of this fab event is all about the fashion- being all white and a very strict dress code! You’re not even allowed to wear colored shoes- white or metallic only! I was so looking forward to attending this event, but I unfortunately had a death in my family that took me out of town this day, but wanted to share with you guys so you can psych yourselves up for next years dinner!

You also may have noticed from some of these photos (generously provided by Macy’s because I could not attend) Macy’s was one of the event’s sponsors. So- I’ve chosen some fun pieces fro Macy’s to help you prepare for your first (or next) Diner en Blanc! I even included a cute  little white picnic basket- perfect for this event and transporting your gourmet goods to the event itself!

Here’s a dress that I already had that was in the the running as one of my top choices!
