Hello and welcome friends! If you’re here you’re either looking for some elegant baby boy shower ideas, or some baby shower game ideas that your guests actually WONT hate. Let’s be honest, usually those baby shower games are pretty horrible. Am I right? I’m sorry Paula, but I don’t want to eat a melted candy bar out of a diaper. . .
Today’s blog is a recap of the baby shower for my best friend. I was also honored to take some pregnancy announcement photos for them, which we used on side 2 of the invitations, see below:
So I have to give full disclosure here, as the best friend I kind of dropped the ball and was not able to put my full energy into planning this shower. simply because I’ve been so busy working two jobs and also trying to build a business. Luckily, Krista is a great friend and didn’t hold it against me (and ALSO knew exactly what she wanted) so she really planned most everything herself. Sure we had a few planning sessions and I executed the party, but she was the real mastermind here. Fun fact: we used to own a party planning business together back in the day!
For this shower, we knew she wanted something classy and elegant, not your “usual baby shower”. Krista also wanted to make it co-ed so it could just be a fun party where all of their loved ones came together to celebrate the upcoming birth of their babe! More of a celebratory cocktail party, per se!
We felt that finger foods and a buffet serving style was the way to go for this party! Thanks 3UP for making the food portion of this party run smoothly!
Krista’s dress is from ASOS, and my dress is from Amazon, link here.
This shower was co-ed so we wanted to keep it fun, and not bore the guys out of their minds. Here are a few games we played that were a huge hit! (honestly, I really think everyone loved them!)
- Bottle chug. Grab some mini baby bottles and fill them with beer. First one to chug the entire bottle winds a prize! (Rules: no biting the nipple, and you can’t take the lid off and chug it that way!) It’s pretty hilarious watching a group of adults trying to suck down a beer out of a bottle! In case you weren’t aware, it’s not as easy or as quick as you would think!
- Don’t say the word baby: You’ll see the bowl of mini clothes pins in the pinterest graphic above. . . everybody gets one when they walk in. The objective is to not say the word “baby” and collect the most clothes pins. If you hear someone else say the word, you can take their clothes pin and vice versa. Person with the most at the end wins a prize!
- Baby Bump or Beer Belly This one looks kind of like a bingo card, and has thumbnail photos of. . . you guessed it: BELLIES! The pictures are zoomed in, so the objective is to have people mark whether they think the belly is an actual prego belly, or a beer belly. Hint: These cards DO take a while to grade, so have a helper on stand by to do that for you if you’re busy with other shower activities! This one was purchased on amazon, just search: “baby bump or beer belly cards” and it should pop right up. Here is what the cards look like:
