Hi, friends! One question I get a lot from y’all is how do I keep my hair silvery blonde? Tonight I’m sharing a few things I do AT HOME. First- I don’t wash my hair every day. It’s usually about twice a week. Spreading out your shampoos will help keep your color brighter longer. Just like anyone else who’s a bottle blonde, my hair can get brassy over time- but I’m not a fan of warm blonde (on myself) and I like to keep it icy!
I tone my hair at home, usually once in between my salon appointments. I’m going to share with you what I use here, but PLEASE ask your stylist or try a tester piece before using this all over your whole head. For about a year now, I’ve been using the Blonde Brilliance Line from Sally’s Beauty. I couldn’t believe it myself when Tim, from Shaggy Lox colored my clip-in extensions with them and then suggested I try it at home. He said that’s his favorite toner for silvery/platinum hair and he’s been doing hair for 30 years- he even said he likes it better than all the salon brands! Literally y’all, you CANNOT beat the price on this and my hair always feels so soft after toning.
Here’s the “formula” I use:
- 1 part Blonde Brilliance Platinum Toner- $5.49
- 1 Part Blonde Brilliance Lilac Toner (this gives it a little bit of a purple/violet hue, which I’m totally okay with, but if you’re not, leave this out!)-$5.49
- 1 part Blonde Brilliance 5 vol developer –$1.99
Mix together in a color bowl and apply with a color brush. (I apply this to dry hair, but your stylist may tell you to apply to wet hair).
Leave on for 5 minutes. (I leave mine on for 10 minutes for ultra ashy results). My stylist simply does a foil highlight on my roots every 10 weeks, no other color in the salon.
In addition to tonight my hair around week 5, I make sure to use GOOD quality shampoo and conditioner at home. For the past year and upon recommendation of my stylist- I’ve been using It’s a 10 products and I LOVE them. Recently, they came out with a line for blondes and the blonde shampoo is my fave! I’ve been living by their leave-in treatment of the Keratin variety- but guess what?! They’ve come out with a leave-in for blondes! This post isn’t sponsored, but It’s a 10 was kind enough to send me the below products to try out and since they are formulated for blondes, it couldn’t have been better timing.
I’ve linked all the products in this post for you and you can shop them using the product carousels below! Please comment with any questions you may have!
