Date night is something that we don’t get to do often any more- our schedules don’t mesh and Aaron usually works evenings. So when Palomino invited us in for a date night recently- we were so looking forward to it- especially because we had such a wonderful experience the last time we were there.
Our server was Emily, who just happened to be our server last time and she was so sweet, and very attentive. We went in later in the evening- so unfortunately these pics that I took to share with you guys aren’t quite up to my personal standard, but you get the idea! (Damn dark winter nights here in Indy!)
I also want to mention that if you’re looking for some healthier and lighter options while eating out- Palomino has an awesome selection. With the Mediterranean inspired menu, there is sure to be something to fit your diet whether you’re doing KETO, Paleo or whole 30- lots of seafood, lean proteins and fresh ingredients!
One of my FAVORITE salads in the city resides here at Palomino- and I’ve actually been thinking about trying to recreate it at home. Would you guys like my version of the recipe if I can get it just right?
It has lightly charred Lacinto Kale, golden raisins, toasted quinoa, pumpkin seeds and shredded Pecorino Romano with a slightly sweet truffle vinaigrette.
I may have gone off my diet of counting macros and carb cycling for the day (also trying to cut out most dairy) but these pesto covered, fried Mozzarella were just too tempting!
I couldn’t decide between the n braised lamb shank or the crab and hazelnut stuffed sole, so Aaron and I each ordered one and shared!
I’m going to be real honest- I didn’t get a photo of the sole that I liked enough to post it- while it tasted great- it really just wasn’t the most photogenic dish: that, paired with the low lighting I just opted to leave a photo out and hope you’ll take my word for it! (It was lightly breaded with parm and a buerre blanc- fab!)
Last but certainly not least, I can’t stop ordering this dessert, because honestly, I order it EVERY DANG TIME I go to Palomino. I’m not a huge chocolate fan (GASP!) but anything that’s lemon or blueberry usually catches my attention. Enter the almond crusted Limoncello cake, served with blueberry Gelato. HEAVEN, y’all. Aaron also wanted to try the house donut holes, served warm with raspberry sauce and Nutella. These are shaken up warm in a little bag to distribute the cinnamon and sugar, then laid out on the plate for your viewing pleasure. Such a cute presentation!
If you’re interested in seeing some natural light photos from our last visit (and to be honest there are a few of the same dishes in my last post because, I’m a repeat offender), see the link below:

Also- I wanted to note that if you are on the hunt for a great patio to cocktail on once the weather warms up- Palomino is a wonderful option! The seating is comfy, the people watching is great, and they always have the most beautiful planters outside. Order the Ginger Pear Martini- you wont regret it!
A BIG thank you to Palomino and their fabulous staff for having us in. We hope to see you soon! 🙂
