Current Faves: Face Masks For Every Budget

Hiyooo skin care fanatics! In the last few years, I’ve really tried to take better care of my skin. In my teens and early 20’s I didn’t wear sunscreen, wash my face regularly and spent way to much time in a tanning bed. My, how times have changed! Now, a professed skin-care junkie- face masks are one of my favorite relaxation rituals at-home. If you’re into skincare too- I hope you’ll enjoy this post. I’m sharing a few of my favorite at-home face masks, all at different price points. In fact, the one I’m wearing int his photo is the least expensive of the bunch and  comes in three different scents/blends. Shall we?

 

Full disclosure: I own over 20 face masks ppl. Not bragging or anything ( Ron Burgundy voice-LOL) I just wanted to let you know how into this skin-care thing I am.  For today’s post I wanted to include a variety of masks with different textures and purposes. I’ve included a few wash off masks, under eye-masks (gel patches) a peel off mask, and an overnight mask. Plus- I’m including a recipe for my FAVORITE skincare hack that you can make at home yourself!

First, let’s start with the most cost-effective mask (the one I’m wearing in the today’s photo). This is from the brand Pearlessence, which I had never heard of until I saw it in the beauty section at Marshall’s. I originally bought the  Pink Clay and Rose Petal variety, went home and used it and then went back within the next few days to buy all of them because I liked them so much. These are $6 at Marshall’s if you can find them, and I’ve linked them here for you at $12 from Amazon (the only place I could find that retails this product online).

This is a rinse off mask, and I usually use my sugar scrub to help remove this with warm water and a wash cloth.

Next up,  the second wash off mask- the Bosica white and black charcoal pudding mask. Black charcoal is supposed to be great for sucking up impurities in your skin, and the white charcoal/clay balances this mixture out moisturizing properties. It’s also the “clean” stamp of approval at Sephora, meaning this product is free of preservatives, artificial color and fragrance, dehydrator and gluten. WOOHOO! $38. I also rinse this one off using sugar scrub, warm water and wash cloth.

Next, I’m sharing another Bosica product the Luminizing Black Mask: a peel-off charcoal mask that is OH, SO SATISFYING (the peeling off part, that is). Here’s a pro tip (and some of you may not like this, but hear me out). SHAVE YOUR FACE BEFORE USING THIS ONE.  GASP. Yes, I shave my face about every two weeks – talk to any esthetician and they’ll tell you it’s pretty much the same thing as dermaplane-ing. It’s super exfoliating and your makeup goes on flawlessly afterward.  And no- I don’t have new dark facial hair growing in. (Think of this- did you have a mustache before? No: ok then you’re good. Yes?  Then you probably wax it anyway, am I right?) I personally just have peach fuzz so I think of it as an at-home-spa service! Back to the mask- this one can be painful if you have a fuzzy face, get them too close to your brows ( BIG NO NO!) or your hair line. Be careful when applying this one and let it completely dry before peeling. If you’re a peeler, picker or should-have been dermatologist, you’ll love this mask solely for the satisfaction of peeling it off. If not, you’ll love it for the ultra smooth, squeaky clean results it delivers.  And- bonus! It’s also on the clean list at Sephora! 2.8 oz, $34

 

 

My next share is GlamGlows Flashmud Brightening treatment. This product is a mask and scrub all in one, it contains tiny little scrubbers without being too harsh, and the scent is amazing. This one is formulated without parabens, sulfates or phalates and if you don’t believe me when I say how great it is, just hop on and read the reviews on this one. This one is usually a little pricier, $59 but I found a jar at Marshall’s for $30.

 

 

Moving on: Image Skincare Ageless Retinol overnight masque. Apply this one in a thick layer over cleansed skin before bed (rinse off in the am). This masque releases marine collagen microspheres and retinol into the skin to lock in moisture. This one is physician formulated so you can’t buy in stores. You can purchase online or at your local plactics or derm office- just head on over to the website (here) and search for locations sold. This one is a little pricier but you’ll wake up supple and moisturized. (Not so hot on the word “supple” I just can’t think of a good replacement rn b/c. wine). $66-70.

If you’ve been wanting to try an under-eye mask/patch- this it it ppl. These were a little pricey, but honestly they are so worth it. Put them in the fridge to chill them before applying and get ready to relax. The cooling sensation is sooo good. Plus- I’m a huge eye cream, under eye treatment fanatic since I feel like it’s a problem area. Ask anyone has used these and they will say they are their fave. $52 from Sephora, or $30 on Amazon.

And- my bonus recipe and a little hack for you guys! Here is the link to my favorite sugar scrub recipe– I make this every 8 weeks or so, and use it all over my entire body.  I use it on my face daily and it’s FABULOUS if you spray tan or self-tan on a regular basis to get off that dead, discolored skin. Recently, I’ve just been zesting and squeezing the juice of two lemons, and a dash of vanilla instead of the grapefruit and ginger. Its quicker and I love the fresh lemony scent!

My last hack I wanted to share with you is this: If you’re doing a mask and want to do the old-school chilled cucumber over your eyes, try this:

Cut your slices in half so you can strategically place them under your eye. If you use a whole slice,  it doesn’t lay quite right, and you miss some crucial cucumber-to-skin contact.
